Nigerian music is everywhere today. Afrobeats fills stadiums in London, festivals in Paris and clubs from Berlin to Zürich. Behind that global wave are not only the big names from Lagos, but also Nigerian artists living in Europe who bring the sound to new audiences every week. NazB is one of them.

From Anambra State to the road

NazB was born Michael Ikenna Ozigbo in Anambra State, in south-eastern Nigeria. He grew up in a home full of singing and live instruments, surrounded by the rhythms and storytelling that shape so much of Nigerian music. His persistence as a young man earned him the nickname Nazodobas, which later became NazB.

At 18 he left home to follow music on his own terms. The journey took him through Mali, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal, South Africa, Suriname and Brazil. Years of street life and cultural immersion gave his music a lived-in honesty and an international outlook you can still hear today.

Building a home in Zürich

NazB eventually settled in Zürich, Switzerland, where African rhythm meets European club culture. Instead of leaving his roots behind, he brought them with him. His music blends Nigerian Afrobeats with Afro-House, Amapiano, Afro-pop and hip-hop — a sound that works in a Zürich club as well as at a party in Lagos.

Over the years he has helped grow the Afrobeats scene in Zürich and across Switzerland, sharing stages with international artists, including supporting Davido at The Hall in Dübendorf.

An Afrobeat artist on stages across Europe

As an Afrobeat artist in Europe, NazB has performed in Switzerland and Germany, as well as in Mauritius, Nigeria and India. He has played festivals such as Oz’Arènes in Avenches, club nights like X-Tra in Zürich, and live radio sessions on stations including Kanal K.

His work has been recognised with a Billboard Honourable Mention for songwriting, the Africans in the Diaspora award and the Dynamix Award in Lagos, and features in media across Europe, Africa and North America.

Carrying Nigerian music forward

In 2025 NazB released Ikenna, a 21-track album named after his Igbo first name — a celebration of his Nigerian heritage and his journey. In 2026 he followed it with the album Lonely Days Are Gone and the single “It’s Easy to Luv You”. See all releases in our guide to his new Afrobeat music.

His mission is simple: to make Switzerland and Europe strong homes for African music and culture, while staying true to where he comes from.
